Mindful Living- Choosing Strength over Stress !

It is no surprise that Life is filled with numerous occasions that are challenging, where we question the actions of others, sometimes doubt our own deeds, our faiths, beliefs and our choices, we also question God’s plan and purpose to put us in our current situation.

In a difficult situation we basically try to blame every possible aspect of life in order to make sense of what is happening around us…we stop living and start the endless rounds of questioning, blaming and creating a cloud of negativity and sadness around us. The energy and thought spent in contemplating our life’s challenges is so massive that there is no room for any other emotion but stress, depression and sadness.

“In every adversity lies an opportunity” If we can sense the deep meaning in these words we can see any difficult situation in a positive light.

The adverse situation could be a health condition, failure at a specific task, heart breaks or career and monetary problems.. the list may be endless and we may suffer from either one or a combination of these negative situations.. but just as two negatives charges cannot complete a circuit, similarly, the circuit of life needs one to be positive in a negative situation in order to find that energy.. that spark to resolve the situation and get through it. Here comes the big choice of choosing ‘Strength’ over ‘Stress’.

Strength can mean just simple things at times like.. to smile through tears… to take a walk to free your mind.. to plan for the future that lies ahead.. to accept the adverse situation without feeling helpless… to actually seek medical help.. to forgive others.. to forgive yourself or just to Pray and say “God I know its your plan and I trust you”.

Each ones definition of Strength is different.. some find strength in voicing out while others find it in silence.. no matter what the criteria of strength, we need to choose being strong over being stressed and internalizing any pain or hurt that will make our suffering permanent.

There are few quotes that come to my mind which I believe each one of us should read everyday..

  • “Stress is not what happens to us. It’s our response to what happens. And response is something we can choose”
  • “The greatest weapon against stress is our ability to choose one thought over another” (This one is my favorite)
  • Use your struggles and frustrations to motivate you, rather than to annoy you.
  • You control the way you look at life. Be mindful.

Life is beautiful and life is about inspiring others to find beauty.. our strength may be a ray of hope for others.. a light that shines through our souls and touches the heart of ones around us making them stronger.

If we are able to touch the lives of people with our positivity, strength and be a rainbow in someones rainy sky then what a beautiful life we would be living.. it’s just a matter of choice to be Strong & move on!
